Oliver's Cast is Finally Gone

He pulls the drawer open under the oven, climbs inside and then gives us the hoot belly growl.

This week he has been obsessed with our shoes for some reason. He pulls them out of the closet and lines them up next to the TV. Once that space is full he moves to the ottoman. Then he tries to put them on. I think he looks like he is putting my shoe on to go for a run.

Doro took Oliver in to get his cast off on Friday. I was already at the hospital and was able to go be with them for the apt. He was so scared by the cast saw and then again by the x-ray machine, but his wrist is all healed up and he seems super happy to have his arm free. He started using his hand again little by little and now he is back to using it normally, evident by his determination to get my mountain dew bottle open.

The kitchen table used to be a hoot-free environment, but he recently learned that he can see everything up there and reach it by standing on his little tippy-toes. Dorothy loves his baby feet.

This deer has been in and out of our back yard since we got here, and today she showed up with a baby deer. The baby wandered away early on and she layed down under the plum tree for a long time. She is still out there as I type this. We just hope they don't eat all the blackberries in the back yard.

Oliver's last week with his cast

This is Oliver's new thing. He bends over and looks at us upside down between his legs.

We were driving around the other day and found this boat launch. It was a really nice view and you can see the hospital across the water in the bottom picture.

Oliver watching his Bob the Builder DVDs that he got from Grandma Cathy for his birthday.

He is getting really good now at using a fork. Doro puts a little white dish out for him and he goes at it.

We took him to IKEA a few days ago. All four wheels on the shopping carts there rotate so he loves it when he is sitting in it and I spin him around.

Doro took this picture of him and it is one of my new favorites.

She also took this one. She thinks that he looks like a little scientist drawing up the solution to some complex chemistry problem. He might just be thinking about filling his diaper.

Oliver's favorite playground

This is Oliver's favorite playground. Doro takes him for a ride here everyday so that he can play on the equipment and get his wiggles out. She tells me that when he is done playing he toddles over to the stoller and tries to get it.

He recently discovered that he can pick up a racquetball and throw it. He will bounce it over and I will bounce it back. It is so much fun to play with him.

He love to climb back and forth in the blue tube, and try and drive the playground away with the plastic steering wheel.

This is the pier in the little park at the end of our street. When we took this picture Doro spotted a seal that was swimming by.

Oliver's Accident

He loves phones ever since he discovered the buttons at Grandma Cathy's. He now grabs our cell phones, and the red customer service phones at Target, holds them to his ear, and hoots as if he was having a conversation with somebody.

I have no idea what this is. He was kicking his leg straight out today, looking over at Doro and laughing. We just hope he isn't practicing to do the Can-Can.

Today we went and picked up some furniture. As soon as we got it in the house he claimed the chair as his throne.

I think he looks exactly like Nick in this picture.

Little casted fingers.

A couple of days ago Oliver was climbing up on one of the kitchen chairs, lost his balance, fell backwards and landed on his outstretched left hand. For the next two days he was favoring his other hand so I got him some x-rays at the hospital and seen by one of the doctors there. We found a little fracture in his wrist so he bought himself a split in the ER, and then a green cast the next day for about three weeks. He is doing OK with it. He is still a happy little hoot in spite of not being able to move his elbow or wrist.

Oliver's Frist Trip to Seattle and Fun at Home

This was Hoot Belly's first ferry ride to Seattle. He was so interested in everything that was happening and loved to point and stare at the seagulls that fly along side the boat. The will eat bread out of your hand, so next time we are going to do that with him.

It was windy on the water, but a beautiful day. Mt. Rainer looks a lot bigger in real life than it does in this picture.
Doro gave him the little fork we got from Grandma Cathy before we left and he started feeding himself the other day. He is such a genius little Hoot Belly.

We took Oliver to a baby consignment store and he found this little lawn mower. He fell in love with it immediately, pushing it all over the store and making it sing. We had to get it for him and now he has so much fun pushing it all over the house. Erica I thought you would especially appreciate this picture

He was sleeping like this one night when we went in to check on him and I had to risk waking him up with the flash he was so cute.

He discovered that he could put his hand into the water jug.
