Oliver's Spring Explorations

Since Doro had a few health problems, we haven't posted pictures
of Oliver's antics. Here are a few of our favorites from the past two months...

How to Destroy a Decorative Wreath
 Step 1: locate target

Step 2: prevent target from escaping

Step 3: dispose of evidence

Bath time is still our favorite part of the day!

So we were sitting on our back deck, enjoying a spring day and
we looked down to see Oliver looking very serious and busy.
This could only mean trouble.

He was taking dried grass and stuffing it into Adam's truck tailpipe!

... over...

... and over...

... and over again.

"Did anyone see me?"

It was so full that when Adam started his truck, this wad of grass
shot out the pipe like a bullet!

Then Oliver recruited his friend to help.

His hands were filthy! At some point he apparently had an itch under his nose.

But he cleans up nicely!

Every day the ferry goes back and forth between Seattle and Bremerton. We can usually see it from our back deck in the winter when the leaves on the trees are gone. The street our house is on ends at the ocean. There's a small park with a rocky beach. Oliver loves to throw rocks into the waves and watch the boats go by.

Oliver has recently taken an interest in medicine!

We enjoyed a fun date night when the navy put on a formal dinner
because the second-in-command at the hospital was leaving. We haven't
been this dressed up since our wedding!

Oliver's First Camping Trip

We decided to take Oliver camping for the first time a few weeks ago. We packed a few essentials and went with two other families who also had little kids Oliver's age. It was a lot of fun, and not as hard as we were anticipating.

Adam couldn't wait to bust out the Coleman lantern!

"Home sweet home" for the night.

Needless to say, Oliver was a big fan of the air mattress.

Making breakfast is one of our favorite parts of camping.

Oliver doesn't like to leave home without at least one truck...

... he took that truck all over the woods. We had to
keep calling him back because he was ready to explore
without us!

We survived the night!

Oliver the Artist

Oliver is always wanting to write with the dry erase markers so Doro found some large pieces of paper and let him get his writing wiggles out with paint.  Once the paper was painted it was obviously time to paint his knees, then everything else, and then a bath of blue water.  I was at work and she sent me pictures on my phone.  I showed them to one of the nurses on the labor and delivery floor who said, "Now THAT is a good mom."  Its true.

We often go to our favorite bakery in a nearby town on my day off for a doughnut.  Now that the weather is nice again we go sit in the park and eat them.

He spotted a pigeon down on the rocks below us and got really excited.  We then said, "Oliver do you want to feed the pigeon a piece of your doughnut," thinking he would say yes, but he chucks his whole doughnut through the fence onto the rocks.  Haha.

Running crazy hoot.

"Show me your belly"  These are his new swim trunks.

Doro takes him swimming at the pool almost every week and he has so much fun.  When we were in Pensacola about a year ago he was scared of the water and now he loves it.

He recently likes to eat vegetables dipped in ranch dressing, and then smear his hands all over anything nearby.

I got home in the morning from working all night and layed down on the kitchen floor.  Oliver then brought me his crab pillow, blanket, stuffed animals and layed down with me.

Oliver's Easter Basket

We got take out the other night and Hoot Belly was more interested in the bag.  He filled it with his trucks and then dragged it around the house.

Doro started her little garden inside and he was very interested in helping water the plants.  He loves water.

...and the sink.

He climbs on my back and holds on tight when I do push-ups.

Look at that little finger!  He figured out the child locks and now nothing is safe, again.

He demands pickles now.

Oliver woke up this morning to an Easter basket outside his room. He was a little confused at first, but he quickly figured out that there are goodies to find inside the basket. He was very excited when he found a plastic egg and cracked it open to find candy. Happy Easter Oliver!
